FOIL KEEL

 

Foil keel – device to prevent the catamaran’s lateral drift.

Foil keel is necessary at movement of a catamaran at lateral (galvind) and counter (bejevind) wind.

To place this device on a catamaran, the foil keel pipe installing on board and fastening two foil keels.

 

INSTALLING OF FOIL KEEL PIPE

 

Shield tube together with the stapes is installed on the second frame. The pipe is fixed with two clamps using through bolts.

Foil keels hung on the protruding part of the tube, the latch enters the L-shaped groove and secures foil keel.

The retainer is fixed in the foil keel pipe and does not require tightening, the foil keel must easily rotate on the pipe.

The bottom position of the dock is installed when the side (galvind) and counter (bidevind) wind is going.

Windward foil keel is recommended to lift to reduce resistance.

Foil keel is installed by the convex side to the catamaran board

Sailing rigs installation

1. The lower part of the mast is installed in the staples, the holes in the mast and the stapes must coincide, the bolts secure the mast and cleat.

2. Dress the sail on the lower part of the mast, starting with the clew.

3. Connect the two parts of the mast, stretch the sail. Secure the halyard point of the sail with the rigging clamp at the top of the mast. Attach the weather clew to the cleat on the staple. Check the armor, tighten the fastening points of the armor in the armor pockets.

4. Install the sail boom and unite both parts. Sail boom rests its whiskers against the mast through the eyelets in the sail.

5. Staysail. The halyard point of the staysail is fixed on the top of the mast. The weather clew is in the middle of the front frame (bulkhead). To the clew corner are attached the sheets and are bred on different sides.

6. Tighten the side panels, which are fixed by means of rigging clamps to the masthead, and the second ends are fixed to the clamps on the foil keel pipe.

7. Lifting of the mast. Stretches the rod and fastens on the front frame to the cleat, or to the nasal handles for carrying the catamaran. Achterstig from the top of the mast is carried to the handles for carrying the catamaran or fixed on the cleats on the transom board

8. Fix the Clew Point of the sail on the nose of the boom. Pass the end of the clew through the block to control the sail. The root end is attached to the bracket on the steering device or frame in front of the helmsman.
